If you served overseas in a designated combat zone — your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace. The VFW is where those who answered the call still stand together.

You qualify for VFW membership if you have received an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions)discharge (or are currently serving) AND meet one of the following:
✅ Received an authorized overseas campaign medal
✅ Served in Korea for 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days
✅ Received Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay at any point
Most of this is documented on your DD-214. If yours is incomplete or missing, request a copy from the National Personnel Records Center or call 314-801-0800.
