Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.

Eric G. Sandstrom Post — Proudly Serving Tacoma Since 1919

For more than a century, VFW Post 969 has been a home for the veterans of Tacoma and Pierce County — a place where those who answered the call still stand shoulder to shoulder. Whether you served in Vietnam, the Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere in between, you belong here.

We're more than a Post. We're a family of veterans, spouses, sons, daughters, and neighbors who believe no veteran should ever stand alone.

  • Support our veterans — Free VA claims assistance, benefits guidance, and one-on-one help from accredited service officers

  • Care for our families — The VFW Auxiliary 969 stands beside every member with meals, cards, hospital visits, and a listening ear

  • Serve our community — Memorial ceremonies, scholarship programs, youth outreach, and community events like our annual July 4th America 250 Block Party at the Post 969 Rec Park in Orting

  • Honor those we've lost — Wreaths Across America at Tahoma National Cemetery and the Washington Soldiers Home Cemetery each December
